Our Story

Mental health is an essential part of everyone’s life. It affects how we think, cope with stress, how we interact with others, how we make choices, and how we feel. We established Connecting with
Purpose Behavioral Health Care
to promote and improve the mental well-being of clients and their families, and to provide high-quality care for individuals identified with mental illness through the thoughtful application of lawful mental health care practices.

Connecting with people has always been a passion, whether through interacting with others, listening to their concerns, or seeking every
opportunity to provide assistance where needed. We have firsthand experience with mental health-associated challenges: how scary, debilitating, and overwhelming they can be for the individuals affected and their families.

You do not have to walk this road alone, and our purpose is to help you realize your purpose on your journey towards mental wellness. Together, we can develop a personalized plan to enable the healing and empowerment you deserve to take control of your life.

About Our Practitioner

Shurma Pitt

PMHNP-BC

Hi, I'm Shurma Pitt. I am a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). I earned a Master’s of Science in Nursing with an emphasis in Nursing Education at Grand Canyon University in 2016, and earned my Post Masters Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner credentials from the University of Cincinnati in 2020.

I have over sixteen years of experience in a variety of clinical settings that include stepdown orthopedic and spine surgical nursing, surgical oncology, inpatient and outpatient behavioral health (including management of acute and chronic psychiatric symptoms), and chemical dependency. I enjoy connecting with new people, and my passion is helping individuals feel better about themselves mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically using a non-judgmental approach.

Patients deserve nothing less than high quality patient-centered care, and at Connecting with Purpose Behavioral Health Care we aspire to provide holistic care with dignity and respect in a safe, non-threatening environment. We advocate for patients to play a pivotal role in their own care, as we believe that patients should always have a voice and feel valued, respected, safe, supported, and empowered. Working together with my patients, our aim is to create comprehensive and personalized treatment plans that tailor psychiatric evaluations, medication management, brief psychotherapy, and follow-up appointments to individual needs. Thank you for making the difficult decision to seek mental health care and for trusting me to support you on your journey to healing.
